Valley of Flowers Trek (By RTCGuwahati)

By: theRoadTripsCo

Have a Passion for the travelling?

Dzukou Valley in the North Eastern part of India, straddles the borders of two of the seven sisters; Nagaland and Manipur. Emerald colored hills, lush green forests, serpentine streams and myriad colorful flowers dot the valley and its meadows. According to the Nagas, the word Dzukou is originally derived from the Viswema dialect of the Angamis “Dzu-ko”. The valley is situated at an altitude of 2,438 meters above sea level, with the Japfu Peak in the backdrop. From a distance, the valley gives an impression of a flat land, freshly mowed and leveled. The valley is watered by two meandering streams; Dzukou River and the Japfu river. The streams which find their sources from the mountains tend to freeze in the winters. This entire valley is adorned with lilies, aconitum, and euphorbia and multi-colored rhododendrons. They envelope the valley floor like a carpet so much that there are times when you can’t see the valley at all, hence rightly called the “Valley of flowers of the North East”. Dzukou Valley is a place unadulterated by the modern architect of technology. It is a time turner and is definitely going to take you back in time where nature left us awe struck at every step. The place screams out whimsical satisfaction and the idyllic view is something one cannot get enough of.
