The land of ruins.
Join us on an expedition to Hampi, the city of ruins. It is situated in in the lesser explored areas of Karnataka and is a treasure of history and a true delight for travellers. Hampi boasts of over 500 ancient monuments, temples, street markets, bastions, buildings all highlighting the might and power of the Vijayanagar Empire. Some even call it an open air museum, with ancient artefacts on display out in the open.
Hampi was the capital of the thriving Vijayanagar Empire and by some records, the second largest city in the world at the time. However, as years went by, the city lost its importance and was slowly left to ruins. Their loss centuries ago is our gain, leaving these beautiful ruins free to explore for us today.
Hampi also boasts of an unusual terrain, surrounded by boulders of different sizes arranged in hill formations. Climb one of these and you’ll be guaranteed a view that’s worth your effort.
We’re heading on a roadtrip to this wonderful destination, with a day reserved to explore and learn more about the ruins. So bring the family along and enjoy a weekend away from the regular and ordinary.
